Creative Ramblings of One Crunchy Mama

Portabellopixie!

That is exactly how my Willow described her new Easter dress! She and I love it so much I’ve already got two more cut! I actually used a pattern for this.. SHHHH.. its from the Sandi Henderson Design line of Portabellopixie Boutique Patterns and this one is called ‘Clair‘. The pattern can be made 4 different ways and the one I chose is the peasant dress. I changed it a little though, it calls for shirring at the neckline, armholes and waist but I decided to go with cased elastic at the neck and arms and one row of zigzagged elastic at the waist.

After looking at the sizing and doing a bit of measuring, I traced out the 18-24mo size onto my heavyweight sketchpad and cut the pieces out. (I never cut multisized patterns.. JIC). All three fabrics I used were originally destined to become something else.. but you know how that goes.. haha! Turns out that the sizing on the package is spot on!

I have to add that her pattern instruction books are beautiful and well laid out. Full of easy to understand full color directions that any novice would have no problem navigating.

My normal dislike for patterns is momentarily banished, I love the finished product and didn’t have to make a single alteration!
